We have recently returned home from our trip to beautiful Florence, after getting married there 3 years ago, we try to visit every year. We just simply love it there, a city rich in history and culture with amazing food and an atmosphere to match, it’s definitely worth a visit if you haven’t already.
It’s also bursting with jewellery history and one of Florence’s most famous features is the Ponte Vecchio, translating simply as ‘Old Bridge’.
A bridge has been documented on the site, over the Arno river, as far back as 966 and since 1593 only jewellers and goldsmiths have been allowed to occupy the shops here.
The result is a charming array of small independent shops selling everything from silver charms to diamond tiaras. The perfect place for hours of window shopping!
