Ring Sizing Guide
Choosing the correct ring size can feel like a lot of pressure, especially if you are planning a surprise proposal. Most engagement rings can be resized easily afterwards, so there is no need to worry about getting it absolutely perfect first time.
At Holts Jewellery, every appointment is guided personally by founder and jewellery expert Melissa Holt DGA, who will help you find the right fit and advise on sizing for your chosen ring style.
Made to Order & Bespoke
Our vintage inspired bespoke engagement rings are handmade to order in Hatton Garden, so we usually create the ring in your chosen size from the beginning.
If you are unsure of the exact size required, we can make the ring to an average size and resize it afterwards once your partner’s finger has been measured properly.

Antique & Vintage
Most of our original antique and vintage engagement rings can be resized, depending on the design and setting. Resizing usually takes around two weeks to complete and the first resize is complimentary.
Some antique rings require more delicate handling due to their age and craftsmanship, so we recommend contacting us before purchasing if you would like sizing advice for a specific piece.
Each ring is individually assessed to ensure resizing can be carried out safely while preserving the original character of the piece.
Subsequent resizes are charged at £80.
How do I find out my partner's ring size?
Finding out your partner’s ring size without giving away a surprise proposal can be difficult.
If they already wear a ring on the third finger of their left hand, you can bring this along to your appointment and we can measure the size from there.
Some customers also ask a friend or family member to casually suggest trying rings on while shopping together. Others choose to propose first and resize the ring afterwards, which is often the safest option if you are unsure.
Most engagement rings can be resized easily, and we offer complimentary resizing on our engagement rings to help ensure the final fit is exactly right.
