Wedding Ring Guide

Choosing your wedding rings is one of the most personal jewellery decisions you will make. These are the rings you will wear every day for the rest of your lives, so finding designs that feel comfortable, timeless and truly suited to both of you is important.

At Holts Jewellery, our wedding rings are handmade to order in London’s historic Hatton Garden using traditional goldsmith methods. Whether you are looking for classic plain bands, diamond, shaped, or hand engraved designs, every ring is crafted individually in your chosen metal, width and finish.

Visit our Bath showroom for a private appointment with founder and jewellery expert Melissa Holt DGA, where you can try on different styles together and explore the collection over coffee or a glass of champagne in a relaxed setting.

Wedding Ring Profiles

The profile refers to the shape of the band and how the ring sits on the hand. Different profiles offer different looks and levels of comfort, so trying styles on in person can make a significant difference.

D Shape - Rounded on the outside and flat to the inside for a traditional look without being too deep in profile.

Court - Rounded on both the in and outside for a comfortable fit and classic style.

Bombe Court - Flat to the centre and gently rounded to the edges offers a comfortable feel but slightly more contemporary design.

Flat Court - Flat to the outside whilst being rounded on the inside for comfort with an ultra sleek and modern look.

Shaped Wedding Rings

If your engagement ring has a low setting or unique shape, a shaped wedding ring may offer the best fit.

Our shaped and contoured wedding bands include curved, wishbone, asymmetrical and twisted styles in plain, engraved and diamond set designs. During your appointment, you can try different wedding bands alongside your engagement ring to see which shape works best.

For more unusual settings, we can also create a bespoke wedding ring sculpted specifically around your engagement ring for a seamless fit.

Diamond & Eternity Bands

Diamond wedding bands and eternity rings offer additional detail and brilliance while still being designed for everyday wear.

Our collection includes delicate micro claw eternity rings, vintage inspired diamond bands and shaped diamond wedding rings, available in a range of widths and settings. Each ring is handmade to order and can be customised in your chosen precious metal.

Whether you prefer a subtle diamond detail or a full eternity style, our collection is designed to complement both modern and antique engagement rings beautifully.

Choosing the right metal

Our wedding rings can be handcrafted in your choice of platinum, 9ct or 18ct yellow gold, white gold or rose gold.

If you wear your engagement ring and wedding ring together every day, we usually recommend choosing the same metal for both rings. Different metals wear at different rates and mixing metals over time can cause the rings to wear against one another.

Hand Engraving

We offer hand engraving for our wedding rings, allowing you to add a personal message, initials or wedding date inside your rings.

Engraving is complimentary when ordering two wedding rings together. For single ring orders, engraving is £95 for up to seven characters, with additional characters at £6 each.

As every engraving is completed by hand, please allow around seven additional days for your order.

Featured: Orange Blossom

One of our most loved wedding ring designs is the hand engraved Orange Blossom band, inspired by an original 1920s design.

Handcrafted and hand engraved by our master engraver, the design features delicate orange blossom detailing flowing around the entire band, finished with a fine mill grain edge. Historically, the orange blossom pattern dates back over 180 years, inspired by Queen Victoria wearing orange blossoms in her hair on her wedding day in 1840, and has symbolised purity, innocence and fertility, making it a meaningful motif for wedding jewellery for generations.

Available in platinum, 9ct and 18ct white gold, yellow gold and rose gold.
